Forehead lift cost in the US had a 2024 surgeon-fee range of $4,000 to $7,500, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), with an average fee of $5,460. Anaesthesia, the operating facility, tests and medicines are extra. Insurance usually doesn’t pay unless drooping brows measurably block your vision.
This guide is part of our brow lift overview. Figures are US surgeon or physician fees unless stated otherwise.
Forehead lift cost table
A surgical brow lift costs more than injectables per visit but lasts years; combining it with eyelid surgery adds to the total.
| Procedure | US fee | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Forehead (brow) lift | $4,000 to $7,500 | ASPS 2024 range |
| Forehead lift (average) | $5,460 | ASPS cost page |
| Upper eyelid surgery | $3,000 to $5,500 | ASPS 2024 range |
| Facelift | $12,000 to $19,000 | ASPS 2024 range |
| Neuromodulator (e.g. Botox), per session | $435 average | ASPS 2023 average |
| Non-invasive skin tightening, per session | $2,326 average | ASPS 2023 average |
Injectables look cheaper per visit, but Botox Cosmetic’s effect on frown lines lasts about three to four months, according to its prescribing information, so yearly costs add up. Compare options in our Botox brow lift guide.
Factors that change the price
Surgeon experience, technique, location and what’s bundled into the quote explain most of the difference between clinics.
ASPS lists these factors and extra costs:
- Surgeon’s experience and training.
- Technique: a temporal lift of the outer brow involves less surgery than an endoscopic or coronal lift of the whole forehead. See our brow lift types comparison.
- Location of the practice.
- Anaesthesia and facility fees, which are not in the average surgeon fee.
- Medical tests, garments and prescription medicines.
Combining a brow lift with eyelid surgery or a facelift raises the total but can save on a second anaesthetic and recovery. In my practice, I give one written quote listing each fee separately, including follow-up visits, so patients can compare clinics fairly.
Insurance and financing
Brow lifts for appearance aren’t covered; when drooping brows block vision, insurers may pay after visual field testing.
ASPS says most health insurance doesn’t cover brow lift surgery or its complications. US Medicare criteria for eyelid and brow surgery include visual impairment from brow ptosis, usually shown by a minimum 12-degree or 30% loss of upper visual field that improves when the brow and lid are lifted, plus photos. Prior authorization is required.
Many surgeons offer payment plans, according to ASPS. Before you sign, check the total repayment amount, what happens if a revision is needed, and which follow-up visits are included. Time off work also has a cost; see the brow lift recovery guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Answers on brow lift insurance, total cost, Botox versus surgery over time and combining a brow lift with eyelid surgery.
Does insurance cover a forehead lift?
Not for appearance. If drooping brows block your vision, insurers may cover surgery after visual field tests and photos. US Medicare, for example, lists brow ptosis causing visual impairment among qualifying conditions. Check your own policy and get prior approval in writing.
What is the total cost of a brow lift?
The ASPS 2024 surgeon-fee range is $4,000 to $7,500. Anaesthesia, facility fees, tests and medicines come on top. Ask for an itemized quote, as some clinics bundle these and others charge them separately, which makes headline prices misleading.
Is Botox cheaper than a brow lift?
Per visit, yes: ASPS reported an average 2023 neuromodulator fee of $435. The effect lasts about three to four months, though, so yearly costs add up. Botox also gives only a mild lift, while surgery repositions sagging tissue for years.
Is it cheaper to combine a brow lift with eyelid surgery?
The combined fee is higher than either alone, but one anaesthetic, one facility fee and one recovery period can cost less than two separate operations. Ask your surgeon whether lifting the brow first reduces how much eyelid surgery you need.
If you’d like an itemized quote for your own plan, you can book a consultation with Metropole Clinic by ABmedi. For techniques and results, return to the brow lift hub.
