Male facial rejuvenation uses the same tools as for women, toxin, fillers, lasers and surgery, but with different goals: keep a strong brow and jaw, avoid an overfilled or tight look, and limit downtime. In 2024, men in the US most often chose toxin, laser treatments and fillers, and among surgeries, eyelid surgery, facelifts and neck lifts.
This guide is part of our facial rejuvenation overview, which compares all treatments.
Popular treatments
Men choose toxin, lasers and fillers most often, while eyelid surgery and lifts lead among surgical options, according to 2024 ASPS data.
| Treatment | Men, 2024 (US) | Share of all patients |
|---|---|---|
| Neuromodulator (toxin) | 593,854 | 6% |
| Combination laser treatments | 488,681 | 16% |
| Skin resurfacing | 257,486 | 7% |
| Hyaluronic acid filler | 146,951 | 3% |
| Eyelid surgery | 15,351 | 13% |
| Facelift | 5,819 | 7% |
| Neck lift | 2,773 | 12% |
Figures are from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS, US). Men make up a larger share of eyelid surgery and neck lifts than of fillers, which reflects common male concerns: heavy upper lids, under-eye bags and a loose neck.
Mayo Clinic lists sun, smoking, repeated expressions and genes as drivers of wrinkles. A 2013 study of 79 identical twin pairs found smokers had more under-eye bags, deeper folds beside the mouth and more lip wrinkles. For men who work outdoors, daily sunscreen is the simplest start to facial rejuvenation for men.
Results
Good results look rested and masculine, with a strong jaw, natural brow position and visible character lines rather than smooth, frozen skin.
- Toxin: men often have stronger forehead and frown muscles, so dosing differs. Effects in Botox Cosmetic trials faded over three to four months.
- Filler: small amounts along the jaw and chin usually suit men better than large cheek volumes.
- Surgery: a 2012 study found about 76% of facelift patients still looked younger after 5.5 years. Surgeons plan incisions around sideburns and beard growth.
In my practice, the most common request from men is to look less tired, not younger. Treating the eyelids and neck often achieves that better than smoothing every line. For specific areas, see our upper eyelid surgery and neck lift for men guides.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Short answers on facial rejuvenation for men: where to start, downtime, natural results, toxin dosing, beards and costs.
What is the most popular facial rejuvenation for men?
Toxin injections. In 2024, US men had about 594,000 neuromodulator treatments, followed by combination laser treatments and skin resurfacing. Among surgeries, eyelid surgery was most common for men, according to ASPS statistics.
How do men avoid looking “done”?
Ask for conservative treatment that keeps natural movement and a strong brow and jaw. Avoid large cheek or lip volumes. Choose an injector or surgeon whose before and after photos of men look masculine and rested.
Do men need more toxin than women?
Often, because men usually have larger, stronger facial muscles. Your injector adjusts the dose to your muscle strength and the look you want. Effects typically wear off over about three to four months.
What has the least downtime for men?
Toxin has almost none, and filler usually only days of possible bruising. Light treatments such as IPL need about 24 to 48 hours. Laser resurfacing needs one to two weeks, and surgery about two weeks before returning to work.
Does a beard affect treatment?
A beard can hide some jawline changes and surgical scars, but it can also limit laser treatment of the lower face. Surgeons plan incisions around beard and sideburn growth so hair still grows normally afterward.
How much does male facial rejuvenation cost?
Prices are the same for men and women per treatment, but men may need more toxin. ASPS 2023 averages were $435 for toxin and $715 for hyaluronic acid filler. Surgery costs thousands more, plus facility and anaesthesia fees.
