Brow Lift Before and After: Surgical Results (Women & Men)

Brow lift before and after photos usually show brows sitting higher and more evenly, less hooding over the upper eyelids and smoother forehead or frown lines. The change is visible straight away but settles over a few months as swelling fades. A natural result keeps the inner brow fairly low, so the face looks rested rather than surprised.

This guide is part of our brow lift overview. It covers surgical brow lifts, not salon brow lamination.

Surgical brow lift before and after

Typical brow lift results include a lifted outer brow, more visible eyelid space and a fresher look, with differences by technique.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS, US) says results are immediately visible, with the final result appearing over the next few months as swelling falls and incision lines fade. What you see in a brow lift photo depends on the technique:

Technique Typical visible change
Temporal (lateral) Outer brow lifted; forehead lines unchanged
Endoscopic Whole brow lifted; forehead lines only mildly improved
Hairline Brow lifted and forehead shortened or kept the same height
Direct Precise brow lift; fine scar above the brow

A 2026 prospective study of 41 direct brow lifts, reported by Modern Aesthetics, found significant lifting of the brow head and tail at one month, a slight drop by 12 months and improving scar satisfaction over time. Our brow lift types comparison explains each method.

How to judge a result

  • The inner brow shouldn’t sit much higher than the outer brow.
  • Both brows should match at rest and when raised.
  • Scars should be hidden in hair or fine above the brow.
  • The hairline shouldn’t look obviously higher.

Forehead lift before and after

Forehead lift photos often show smoother frown lines and a more open eye area; deep horizontal lines may still need Botox.

ASPS says a brow lift treats horizontal forehead lines and frown lines. An ASPS article adds that an endoscopic lift doesn’t markedly improve forehead wrinkles, and that most brow lift patients still use Botox for fine-tuning. So brow lift before and after surgery photos that show a completely smooth forehead may include injectables too.

When comparing images, check that lighting, head angle and facial expression match. Raised eyebrows in the “before” photo or a relaxed face in the “after” photo can exaggerate the change. In my practice, I take photos with the forehead fully relaxed, eyes closed then open, so the brow sits at its true resting height.

Men

A brow lift for a man aims for a flatter, lower brow than in women; over-arching or over-lifting looks feminine or surprised.

Male brows naturally sit lower and flatter along the bony rim. A good brow lift before and after men result corrects heavy hooding while keeping that shape. Receding or thinning hairlines also affect where incisions can hide, so men may suit endoscopic or temporal approaches, or a direct lift in thick brows.

Risks are the same as for women, including numbness, itching, hair loss around incisions and asymmetry. For lid skin that remains after a brow lift, see our upper eye lift guide.

Celebrity brow lifts

Brow lift celebrity comparisons are guesses: makeup, brow grooming, lighting and Botox can all change the brow in photos.

We don’t name public figures, because most claims are unconfirmed. Brow shaping, tinting, lamination, makeup and toxin can raise the look of the brow without surgery. If you admire a particular brow shape, bring photos to show the look you like, and your surgeon can explain what suits your face. Our guide on Botox brow lifts explains the non-surgical version that is often behind these changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Answers on brow lifting surgery before and after timing, how long results last, scars and the surprised look.

When do brow lifting surgery before and after results show?

ASPS says results are visible immediately, but swelling hides the final shape. The brow often looks slightly high at first and settles over the next few months. Judge your result once swelling has gone and incisions have faded.

How long do brow lift results last?

It varies by technique. An ASPS article notes a temporal brow lift lasts a long time, while a lift done through the eyelid may start to fall after a few years. Aging continues, so many people use Botox to maintain the result.

Will people notice I’ve had a brow lift?

A well-judged lift usually looks like you are rested rather than operated on. Scars from endoscopic and coronal lifts are hidden in hair. Over-lifting, especially of the inner brow, is what makes surgery obvious, so discuss the planned height carefully.

What if my brows look uneven after surgery?

Some asymmetry is common early on because each side swells differently. If it remains after a few months, small corrections with surgery or Botox are possible. Our guide on brow lifts gone wrong explains fixes for common problems.
